FAMILY AND CHILD TREATMENT (F.A.C.T.) SERVICES
The Family and Child Treatment Program is a family focused treatment program designed for children 0-6, 7-12 and 13-18 years of age. Children accepted will be those exhibiting emotional and/or behavioural problems. This includes both “acting out” behaviours (e.g., hostility, temper tantrums, delinquent behaviour, etc.) and “acting in” behaviours (e.g., withdrawal, phobias, depression, etc.). Although it is preferred that we work in conjunction with the family, from time to time, it is necessary to work with a child exclusively. Referrals are accepted through our Intake process, family members directly and collaterals. A number of programs fall under F.A.C.T. services including the following:
a) Community Based Services
Referrals are accepted from the community for children and their families; a range of outpatient services are provided from trained counsellors. Referrals are received through our Intake process.
b) Early YearsThe purpose of this program is to serve children under 6 and their families who are experiencing mental health issues/concerns. Services will be provided within a collaborative, solution focused, cross-sectoral approach, involving existing programs such as Healthy Babies, Healthy Children and new initiatives such as Ontario’s Early Years Centres. Referrals are accepted through our Intake process.
c) Intensive Services The purpose of this program is to provide children and families with mental health issues with intensive flexible mental health intervention/treatment in their homes, schools and communities. Services will be provided within a collaborative, cross-sectoral approach. The core service design is based on principles of solution focused therapy. Intensive In-Home Services include:
